Kit has been a professional educator for over 40 years. His roles have comprised those of teacher in secondary and primary; adviser and Ofsted inspector in both phases; school improvement manager and strategic lead for continuing professional development (CPD) in schools and academies. He is past chair of the National Association of Language Advisers (www.nala.org.uk) and also past chair of the Sheffield Standing Advisory Council for Religious Education (SACRE) www.sheffield.gov.uk/education/about-us/sacre.html
He is currently chair of the Ambassador Advisory Group at a secondary academy in Sheffield; trustee of Languages Sheffield (www.languages-sheffield.org.uk); trustee of Sapere, the national charity which promotes Philosophy for Children (www.sapere.org.uk), and a member of the Sheffield Music Hub advisory board (http://www.sheffieldmusichub.org/). He is also an examiner/ moderator for GCSE and A Level languages with Cambridge International Examinations.
Since retiring from Sheffield City Council’s Inclusion and Learning Services in October 2015, Kit is working as an independent education consultant.
